AAR Insurance Kenya is a leading medical and general insurance company, providing innovative underwriting solutions to individuals, families and businesses.
We currently serve over 100,000 customers in Kenya. Our current strategic focus entails growing our market strength via digital innovation while aggressively pursuing emerging opportunities in under-served segments like SME and micro insurance.
As the insurance industry undergoes digital disruption, affecting how insurers engage with customers, we have re-aligning our products and services to meet emerging consumer trends and expectations in a rapidly digitized business environment.
We recently rolled out a Cloud infrastructure as part of our goal to be a fully digital insurance company. In addition, AAR Insurance is keen on forging strategic partnerships to improve operational efficiency in the area of claims management. To deliver a delightful customer experience, we are enhancing and simplifying service delivery by automating our services via AAR Insurance Mobile App and Online interactive portals. AAR Insurance is also actively growing its business footprint in the counties, the next big economic frontier in Kenya.

1984
AAR started its operations in 1984 with its primary business being medical evacuations of accident casualties both by road and by air.
2023
AAR Insurance has a presence across the region through its intensive branch and broker network.
Milestones

Africa Air Rescue Company accident and medical evacuation services by road and air is started in Nairobi, Kenya.

1991
AAR Kenya expands into healthcare services by becoming a medical insurance provider.

2000
The AAR Beckmann Trust, named in memory of one of the founding directors Bengt Beckmann, is born. Its mission is to produce positive and sustainable social, economic and environmental impact for the business and society in general.

2005
Project Ventures International (PVI) becomes a shareholder in AAR Group.

2004
AAR opens its Kigali operations.

2007
AAR Insurance Tanzania begins operations and is granted an insurance license.

2010
IFHA commits to invest KShs 750 million in the AAR Group.

2012
The AAR Group’s shareholders resolve to separate the business into two distinct units, AAR Healthcare and AAR insurance.

AAR Insurance rolls out non-medical Insurance Solutions Portfolio and ventures into offering solutions such as Group Personal Accident, Personal Accident, Home Insurance Solution and Professional Indemnity.
