SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR
Overall Purpose Of The Position:
Reporting to the Systems Manager, the systems administrator will manage AAR Information Systems/ Applications and their support structures to ensure that the dependant business meets it objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the planning, scoping, selection, testing and roll-out of new systems/ applications and changes/enhancements to existing systems/ applications
- Install/ provision and maintain server environments required for the smooth deployment and running of business systems.
- Assist with the setup and configuration of system user accounts and permissions and offer first line of business system support to users
- Work closely with other IT team members, users and vendors to identify and initiate business process improvements and actualization of the improved processes in AAR business systems.
- Manage and monitor system performance and ensure the availability of critical services including ensuring that integration points are functioning as desired.
- Assist the business intelligence team in developing from business reports to meet user and management information needs
- Ensure that all reports are accurate and up-to-date in all sites at all times
- Ensure that data integrity and security is maintained in all systems/ applications at all times
- Ensure that all running systems (applications and databases versions) are up to date versions and that they are adequately patched
- Develop and deploy IT-based business solution(s) to meet user requirements as per approved specifications
- Providing systems and business process support to all system users in regional offices
- Provide immediate reports of systems/ application risk areas that require mitigations
- Perform regular system backups and ensure data integrity and recovery processes are in place including performing disaster recovery test operations as per IT disaster recovery plan
- Provide monthly report of disaster recovery operations, in particular back-up logs
- Maintain documentation for systems, processes, and procedures
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and AAR’s information security policy and procedures at all times.
- Perform regular audits and periodic vulnerability assessments; respond to and mitigate security incidents and breaches.
- Generate and review reports on system performance, security incidents, and other relevant metrics.
Experience, Education & Comptencies
- Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Certifications:
- Database Administration Certification
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate or equivalent
- 5 years practical experience in installation of IT systems, development of IT-based business solutions, database design, report writing and query generation, proficiency in the use of BI tools with in-depth knowledge of Systems/ Applications and Database management/ administration skills in the following areas;
- Microsoft SQL Database administration
- Microsoft SQL Reporting Services
- Crystal Reports
- Microsoft .NET
- Web Services
- Integration to Mobile Applications
- Microsoft Windows and Linux Server Environments
- Apache, Tomcat (added advantage)
- Cloud services (AWS, Azure)
- Experience in virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V)
- Good Inter -personal and communication skills
- Decisive – able to react quickly and resolve issues
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
