In June 2023, we marked an important day for AAR Insurance Group!
We are thrilled to announce that AAR Insurance Group has officially become a participant in the United Nations Global Compact, reaffirming our commitment to sustainable development and responsible business practices.
The United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, bringing together companies, organizations, and governments to address pressing global challenges and work towards a more sustainable and inclusive future. By joining this esteemed network, AAR Insurance joins other global leaders in actively contributing to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The UNGC membership is in line with three key SDGs that are aligned with AAR Insurance’s core values and business operations: SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and SDG 13 (Climate Action). These goals reflect AAR Insurance’s dedication to promoting access to quality healthcare, fostering gender equality and women empowerment, and addressing climate change through responsible business practices.
During the momentous signing and certificate handover ceremony, we had the privilege of hosting esteemed guests, including Prof. Izael Da Silva, Chairperson of Climate Change, Sustainability, and Resilience, UNESCO, along with Elias Omondi, Principal of Innovation and Resilience, and Judy Njino, Executive Director of Global Compact Network Kenya and all AAR insurance staff ( Kenya and Uganda).
Speaking during the event as the Keynote Speaker, Ms Judy Njino, Executive Director of Global Compact Network Kenya, congratulated AAR Insurance for taking a bold step and committing to supporting the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact and the SDGs and further affirmed to walk with AAR insurance in the sustainability journey.
On his part, Group CEO Patrick Gatonga emphasized that sustainability lies at the heart of our operations, and joining the UNGC is a natural progression in our journey towards making a positive impact. He called upon industry peers, partners, regulators, and customers to join hands in this noble endeavour.
Our speakers and panellists included Prof. Izael Da Silva, Justine Kosgei, Elias Omondi, Nassuna Christine and Sarah W. who discussed building a sustainable and responsible business.
We further affirmed our commitment to making deliberate efforts to address climate change by setting product carbon sink through the “a tree for every life” initiative that will see us plant a tree for every policyholder, working with schools nationwide.
This milestone highlights our dedication to driving positive change, promoting social responsibility, and addressing global challenges like climate change.
We appreciate the presence and contribution of every partner to make the handover ceremony a success.
